Billionaires Club Peoplecom Reddit Serve One Billion Page Views in January

first_imgIt appears the People brand can do no wrong in print or online. As FOLIO: reported earlier this week, People leads all magazines in Twitter followers with 2.3 million at the end of January (up 4.6 percent from October 2010) and People.com also announced it generated one billion page views in January. “January? Best…month…EVER,” said People Digital editor Mark Golin in a statement. “There are two big reasons why we were able to hit one billion page views. One, the people brand has a huge amount of resonance with a younger digital audience. Two, People has a tireless staff who works 24/7 to not only break news but to enhance them with photo specials, video, celebrity bios, additional functionality and more. It’s why readers spend so much time on our site and return multiple times a day.” Meanwhile, Conde Nast Digital has something to crow about, too. Community news sharing site Reddit, which it bought in 2006, generated more than 1 billion page views in January, according to Google Analytics. In a blog post announcing the record traffic, Reddit engineer Mike Schiraldi wrote, “The New York Times isn’t on the membership list, nor is Expedia, Weather.com, about.com or Fox News. In your face, meteorologists!”last_img
